Hello & Welcome Stewards and Re-wilding Rebels

I have always loved this earth.
It took a lifetime to let her love me back.
I'm Christina, founder and ecological landscape designer behind Soil & Soul Co.
I create living landscapes here in the Texas Hill Country — places rooted in native plants, habitat, water, beauty and a deeper relationship with the land.
My path here hasn't been a conventional one. I've lived and worked around the world, cared for wildlife in Africa, spent decades with my hands in the soil, and learned from plants, ecologists, gardeners and the land itself.
I believe a landscape is more than something to look at. It can feed life, slow water, offer refuge, reconnect us with place — and remind us that we are part of the wild, too.
I am a quiet rebel. A designer. A steward. And still, always, a student of the land.
A Homecoming
In 2024, Hurricane Helene tore through Western North Carolina, a place I had only recently begun to call home. In its aftermath, I found myself returning to Wimberley — to a familiar little place, to the river, and eventually, back to Soil & Soul.
I walked. I listened. I began again.
The river kept flowing. And slowly, so did I.
What emerged was a deeper understanding of the work I wanted to do: not simply creating beautiful gardens, but helping people return to relationship with the land beneath their feet.
That experience didn't create Soil & Soul. It clarified it.
Hands in the Soil
My education has been hands-on and ongoing — decades spent gardening, observing, growing, caring for wildlife, studying native plants and ecological systems, learning from people who know this land, and paying close attention to what survives, adapts and thrives here.
Every landscape teaches me something.
I bring that lived knowledge into every design, along with curiosity, intuition and a belief that the best landscapes don't begin with imposing an idea.
I live simply. I talk to the stars. I walk this earth a whole lot lighter these days.
I don't see that simplicity as a retreat from the world. I see it as a quiet rebellion against the chaos — and perhaps one of the most radical things we can do.
Let's be rebels together — and with the land.
Christina
